M·connect – Application for Schkopau level crossing

27. July 2020

As part of the investment programme for the future, the creation of barrier-free access is being carried out at many smaller rail transport stations throughout Germany. With regard to the improvement of accessibility, it will be ensured that the quality of access and stay at many traffic stations will be greatly enhanced. The renovation of platforms, the construction of ramps and lifts and optimised routing are the main focuses of the barrier-free expansion. Guidance systems for the blind, weather protection systems and passenger information systems complete these measures. The client and planner is DB Station & Service AG. Since October 2017, the new pedestrian bridge has been under construction in Schkopau, followed by the barrier-free extension and the final extension and commissioning of the lifts. The two shaft structures in steel/glass construction were recently completed and the lifts will be installed in autumn 2020. m-connect tension rod systems were used for the static reinforcement of the shaft structures. The filigree tension rod elements contribute significantly to a transparent steel construction.
